Back in 2004, I opened a Filipino restaurant called "Taste of Manila" in Alhambra, CA. I partnered up with my sister and a close friend. After six months, my sister bought both of us out because of business differences. I wanted to be a chain restaurant owner and she wanted to run the business like a mom and pop restaurant. I learned a lot about owning and running a restaurant from that experience. I also realized that "lumpia" is the specific food that will bring Filipino foods into the mainstream of America. I formulized the recipes and created the business model of Lumpia Mania in 2015. I finished the formal Business Plan in 2021. And here we are.
Burgers and hotdogs from Germany, pizza from Italy, tacos from Mexico, sushi from Japan, Chinese dishes from China, and now, lumpias from the Philippines!

So the story goes, back in 1985 as a senior in high school, a friend took me to eat sushi for the first time in Japanese Town near Downtown Los Angeles. The Japanese menu consisted of about 98% sashimi, which is sushi with raw fish, and about 2% California Roll, which didn't have any raw fish in it, and it was gaining popularity. It had cooked shrimp or cooked fish, or scallops. Fast forward thirty plus years, Japanese Sushi is part of the mainstream dishes to eat in America, but the menus are reversed. 98% are now some variation of the original California Rolls, and sashimis are not quite as popular. Only until the foods are Americanized, or maybe a better word is "fusioned", then it becomes part of the American mainstream. That is our goal for Lumpia Mania. The world needs to know about lumpias.

In case you didn't know, lumpias are best described as similar to chinese egg rolls, but instead of vegetables, Filipino lumpias are served with meat, and it's very filling. Traditionally in the Philippines, lumpias are made with ground pork, which are always over cooked, and looses the flavor when cooked. The LM Original Lumpias are served with 80-20 ground beef, and are much larger than the typical Filipino lumpias. Served with sauces to your liking, sweet and sour sauce, sweet and spicy sauce, ketchup, etc, lumpias are addicting food! We offer several varieties of lumpia. The Original Lumpia, with the beef mix, pork and chicken lumpias. And what the world really needs to know, the "fresh lumpia", which we call back home "lumpia sariwa" back home, which is similar to a lettuce wrap, served with killer sweet and garlicky brown sauce. And we have our own burger! The LM Burger is served on pan-de-sal buns with LM Original Beef Mix. And you cannot forget about deserts! Halo-halo, Flantastic, and other Filipino Favorites.
